What Can Arkansas Small Businesses Expect in 2012?
Forget those Mayans and their predictions for the end of the world in 2012, business experts have their own “scary” observations of what they think will be coming this year. Uncertain economy, the search for funding, Technology explosions, mobile marketing via smartphones & tablets, social media (I know, it just will not go away) and the “Solo-preneur”. See what a group of business experts have predicted will drive small business success in 2012.
by Herb Lawrence, Arkansas State University Small business and Technology Development Center Director…sharing prognostications about small businesses from the Delta to the Ozarks.
Earlier last week I posted an article taken from the “gurus” of Internet marketing about what is coming down the pike in 2012 and what it will mean for small businesses. I also made two promises:
I would continue to share other predictions about 2012 and what it will mean to small business
I would NOT make any predictions of my own.
So here is part II and I am keeping my promise not to jump on the “Wiseman” bandwagon.
To prepare for this blog I wanted to avoid marketing, especially Internet marketing topics. I was looking to see what small businesses could expect in their “normal” operations. The problem…technology, mobile issues, social media and the “Cloud” will drive small business success in 2012. I pulled articles and a video from solid news reporters like American Express, Forbes, and Entrepreneur magazine…all to no avail. Keep reading, you can’t avoid it…if you want to be successful in 2012 you must embrace technology. See why below.
So how do the predictions of my talking head sound to you? Are these industry “thought leaders” (love that term) on the mark or all wet? Love to get your opinion. What do you think will be the “BIG THING” for small business success in 2012? Stay tuned for our an upcoming blog where we talk about that term “Solo-preneurs” and how technology may open up a wave of low-cost start-ups from home.
